Chilean soprano based in France. Bachelor of Music with Major in Vocal Performance from the Music Institute of the Alberto Hurtado University (Santiago de Chile), and Master of Music in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance at the Conservatori Liceu (Barcelona).
She was part of the International Academy Teatro del Lago, as a member of the choir for J. S. Bach’ s St. John Passion, conducted by Helmuth Rilling, at Teatro del Lago (Frutillar), Teatro Municipal de Temuco, and Salón Fresno of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
She has performed as a soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. On stage, she has performed the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, the role of the Princess in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and the role of Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen at the Barcelona Opera Studio at the Palau de la Música Catalana. In 2022, she was awarded the Special Prize for Latin American singers at the Concorso Lirico Fiorenza Cedolins (Italy).
She has attended masterclasses with María Dolors Aldea, Sebastián Ferrada, Gonzalo Simonetti, La Scala vocal coach Massimiliano Bullo, Christian Senn, and Patrizia Ciofi.
She regularly performs in recitals of opera arias and art songs, having sung at venues including Palacio Rioja, Monastery of Pedralbes, and the European Museum of Modern Art, among others. Her upcoming engagements include recitals in southern France alongside mezzo-soprano Nathalie Vende and pianist Fabien Prou.
Katherine has also participated in the world premieres of several contemporary works, including Volvemos en Alturas by Manuel Bustamante (available for free download at Proyecto Origami and on Spotify), among other compositions. In 2024, she recorded in Barcelona with pianist Miguel Ángel Dionis the album Canciones Australes: Two Centuries of Chilean Art Song, now available on major streaming platforms. This anthology features recovered repertoire and the first professional recordings of Enrique Soro’s Due liriche and Leni Alexander’s Impressions, as well as Tomás Brantmayer’s art song La oveja and Manuel Bustamante’s cycle Profecías. The album also includes works by Isidora Zegers, the pioneer of classical singing in Chile.
